BRAC and Pointe Coupee Parish Announce Expansion of Wildgame Innovations
Pointe Coupee company expanding its New Roads facility
BATON ROUGE, La. (October 20, 2009) – The Baton Rouge Area Chamber (BRAC) and Pointe Coupee Parish announced today that Wildgame Innovations is expanding its presence in Pointe Coupee Parish through consolidation from other operations. In addition to retaining thirty-three employees at its New Roads facility, the producer of deer feed and supplements expects to add twenty-three new jobs within the next three years, with a capital expansion totaling $3 million.
“This was an important project for BRAC in Pointe Coupee Parish and a great demonstration of regional collaboration,” stated Adam Knapp, BRAC’s President and CEO. “Wildgame Innovations’ decision to consolidate and expand in New Roads is largely due to the partnership between BRAC, officials with the city of New Roads , and the Pointe Coupee Parish Police Jury. This family-owned company truly values the workforce and resources available in our region.”
"We are very pleased that officials at Wildgame Innovations have chosen New Roads and the parish of Pointe Coupee to be their home,” said Scot Byrd, Economic Development Director, Pointe Coupee Parish. “The Chamber of Commerce is proud of the way our police jury and city government have worked together to help retain jobs for these hard working families. This is an example of how the public and private sectors can work together for everyone's mutual benefit."
"Wildgame Innovations is a leader in helping New Roads and the community reduce its carbon footprint,” said Tommy Nelson, New Roads Mayor. “Wildgame Innovations has many recycling programs in place to reduce landfills and make us more sustainable. It is amazing to see the quality of the products that leave the facility here in New Roads. I know that the safety of New Roads employees is in good hands because of the safety programs in place and their safety record.”
BRAC became aware of Wildgame Innovation’s expansion through a retention visit by its retention and expansion team. BRAC later assisted local Pointe Coupee officials to coordinate an economic impact model with Louisiana State University and present the findings of the report to the city and parish leadership. Wildgame Innovations ultimately chose to expand its New Roads facility due to the strong commitment of the local leadership and the quality of the workforce available.
