Pointe Coupee Chamber of Commerce Seeks Grant for Farmer’s Market

New Roads, LA - The Greater Pointe Coupee Chamber of Commerce has applied for a grant from USDA to help create a farmer’s market.  The grant request was facilitated by help from staffers with Senator David Vitter’s office and Representative Dr. Bill Cassidy’s office. The Chamber thanks them for their guidance and letters of support for this funding.

The Chamber plans to collaborate with Miles Brashier with LSU AgCenter Research & Extension and the Pointe Coupee Master Gardeners Program. Our plan will help revitalize commercial space in the New Roads area, increase tourism, parish sales tax revenue, and give an additional direct to market capability to local producers. If you know of a local producer who would be interested in participating in the farmer’s market, please have them contact director of economic development Scot Byrd.
